Home / Programmes / VAT Training UAE for Accounts, Sales and Procurement Teams
VAT Training UAE for the people who raise, approve and record invoices every day. Participants work hands on with your own sales and purchase documents, classify supplies, test input tax claims and prepare a return, guided by senior finance trainers.
A sales coordinator who quotes the wrong treatment or a buyer who accepts a weak invoice creates a VAT problem. We train the people who cause the entries, not only those who post them.
Exports, imports, mixed supplies and free zone deliveries are worked through using documents from your own business, with sensitive details removed first.
The VAT law amendments that took effect on 1 January 2026 are covered, including the end of self-invoicing for reverse charge and the time limit on old input tax balances.
Facilitators have run accounts functions and VAT reviews in the UAE, so they answer the practical question your team is really asking.
Every participant who attends in full receives a TrainingInUAE.com certificate, useful for CPD logs, appraisals and onboarding records.
We agree a measure up front, such as invoice rejections or return corrections, and review it with your finance lead three months later.
Everyone in finance knows the standard rate. The mistakes happen on the edges: a supply that looks exported but is not, a deposit received before delivery, or input tax claimed on an invoice missing details. Working through your own edge cases is the quickest way to stop repeating them.
You send anonymised sales invoices, purchase invoices, credit notes and import papers, plus the questions your team keeps asking.
The trainer covers a single topic, such as time of supply, with a clear example before anyone touches the exercise.
Groups decide the VAT treatment for each document, mark missing details and fix what would fail a review.
Participants check purchase invoices against recovery conditions and flag claims that would not survive scrutiny.
Teams assemble a practice return from the exercise data and reconcile it to a summary ledger.
We meet the finance lead to look at the agreed measure and decide on any refresher for weak areas.
About 80% of the day is spent with documents in hand. After a short explanation, groups classify, correct and record real style invoices, then compare their treatment with the trainer’s.
Eight modules take participants from the basics of the law to returns, audits and recent changes. Sales and procurement staff take a shorter selection, while accounts and tax teams complete the full outline.
Federal Decree-Law No. 8 of 2017, in force since 1 January 2018, the 5% standard rate, who must register and how registration works through EmaraTax.

A retailer issuing thousands of small invoices and a contractor billing in milestones face different VAT risks. We start from your transactions and the errors your reviews have already found.
We talk to your finance manager about transaction types, systems and the recurring questions or corrections.
Anonymised invoices, contracts and import papers become the exercises, reviewed with you before the session.
Sales and procurement get a focused version, accountants get full depth, and delivery runs in English, Arabic or both.
Risk areas, review controls, the 2026 amendments and what to ask advisers before an audit.
Full treatment of supplies, input tax, reverse charge, returns and corrections.
Quoting with the right treatment, issuing valid invoices and handling deposits and credit notes.
Checking supplier invoices, import documents and claims before anything is approved for payment.
Each participant who completes the programme receives a certificate of completion from TrainingInUAE.com listing the modules covered. It is a record of in-house corporate training. It is not an FTA accreditation or a professional tax qualification.
VAT affects nearly every registered business in the UAE, but certain sectors carry more complexity. These are the teams who most often ask for practical sessions.
Importers and exporters dealing with customs, zero rating evidence and goods moving through designated zones.
High volume sellers handling promotions, returns, simplified invoices and online orders.
Contractors billing in stages, retentions and variations where the timing of tax is often misunderstood.
Developers and landlords dealing with residential exemptions, commercial supplies and first supply rules.
Hotels and restaurants managing packages, service charges and mixed supplies on a single bill.
Firms billing foreign clients and deciding when services qualify for zero rating.
Plus 400+ enterprise clients across 16+ countries.
Your trainer is a senior finance practitioner who has prepared returns, managed VAT reviews and worked through FTA queries. We pick the trainer whose sector experience matches yours.

The UAE introduced VAT on 1 January 2018 under Federal Decree-Law No. 8 of 2017, at a standard rate of 5%, administered by the Federal Tax Authority. Registration, returns and payments run through the EmaraTax platform. Many teams learned VAT at launch and have not revisited it since, even though guides, public clarifications and penalty rules have changed several times.
Federal Decree-Law No. 16 of 2025 amended the VAT law from 1 January 2026, removing self-invoicing for reverse charge, limiting how long excess input tax can be carried forward and allowing input tax to be denied where a supply is linked to evasion. With e-invoicing being phased in from 2027, VAT Training UAE keeps teams current. We deliver on site in all seven emirates and live online, as training rather than tax advice.
For sales and procurement staff who need to recognise VAT issues and know when to ask finance.

Yes. We cover the amendments made by Federal Decree-Law No. 16 of 2025, which took effect on 1 January 2026, including the removal of self-invoicing for reverse charge, the time limit on carrying forward excess input tax and the evasion chain rules. Material is checked against FTA publications before each delivery.
Accountants and tax staff need the full programme. Sales, billing and procurement teams benefit from a shorter session, because many VAT errors start with a quote, an order or an approved supplier invoice. We often run a short awareness slot for commercial staff and a full day for finance.
No. It teaches your team how the rules apply and how to handle common transactions correctly. For a specific position, a ruling request or a dispute, you should speak to your tax adviser. The trainer will point out where a question needs formal advice rather than a classroom answer.
Yes, and we recommend it. We ask for anonymised sales and purchase invoices, credit notes and import documents. A confidentiality agreement is signed first, and sensitive material can be reviewed on your premises only. Using your documents makes the corrections directly relevant to the next return.
Commercial teams usually need two hours to half a day. Accounts teams typically take one full day, and businesses with imports, designated zones or real estate supplies often add a second day. An update session on recent changes can be run in half a day.
Yes. We deliver in English, Arabic or bilingually. Finance teams often prefer English for system terms and Arabic for discussion, and the trainer adapts to the room. Handouts, checklists and exercise sheets can be prepared in both languages.
Yes, at a practical level. The invoices module explains how structured electronic invoices will change issuing and receiving, and how VAT data will flow under the new system. If your team needs full readiness work, we run a separate e-invoicing programme focused on data mapping and process change.
Group size, number of sessions, how many of your documents we prepare as exercises, whether separate commercial and finance sessions are needed, language and on site delivery outside Dubai. Share your transaction types on a short call and we send a proposal within 24 to 48 hours.
